CHIRP Projects Supported by your Donations
During Nisenan Heritage Month - Reflections: Today•Yesterday•Tomorrow we are raising $30,000. You can be part of this Community Driven Effort to support California Heritage: Indigenous Research Project (CHIRP) in its mission to Preserve, Protect and Perpetuate Nisenan Culture. Here are some of the amazing programs these funds support:
— NISENAN COVID-RELIEF: provides funds directly to the Nevada City Rancheria (NCR) Nisenan Tribe.
— NISENAN CURRICULUM: create unique Nisenan specific lessons told from the perspective of the Indigenous Nisenan whose history needs to be included.
— SCHOLARSHIPS: Fund a Nisenan Tribal member to work with Tribal Spokesperson and CHIRP Executive Director Shelly Covert in a meaningful educational, Cultural or art opportunity.
— NCRC: Funding Nevada City Rancheria Nisenan Cultural, educational and land stewardship activities at the Nisenan Cultural Reclamation Corridor, including lifeways skills and fire management.
— ‘UBA: Arts, Culture and Educational facility to sell, teach and share art, Culture and educational materials.
— NISHENANIM NI: Help fund the finished film created by the Nevada City Rancheria Nisenan film crew.
— THE BORING STUFF: Not as exciting as other program areas but these funds pay taxes, insurance, office and over-all operation expenses.
— FEDERAL RECOGNITION: Travel, consultation fees, materials, that support the restoration of Federal Recognition for the Nevada City Rancheria Nisenan Tribe.
